Slideshows magically works now

May 12th, 2009 | By putra | Category: News

I have no idea what happened…. but magically, quite beyond my expectation and understanding, the slideshows and embedded videos are suddenly working on the site.

Here I have been cracking my head for weeks…. and all I needed to do was nothing and it works.

I will forever be puzzled and amazed by the capacity of computers to screw you over for unfathomable reasons, and then fix themselves when you are not watching.

They are demons.

But hei….its working now… so I’m happy.

Regards,
putra

Pictures and Videos Broken

Apr 6th, 2009 | By putra | Category: News

Something odd is happening with a recent upgrade that has caused all embedded photo slideshows and videos to stop working. I am trying to get to the bottom of it, so apologies to you who are looking for some pictures.

In the off chance that it is because my own computers are shit, if anyone see’s photos and videos on your computer, please inform me of them. It will assist in the debugging effort.

Thanks and sorry.

Regards,

I havent been there myself but I have heard stories of bouldering opportunities there and surfed the web to bring you pictures and videos of this place as well as the location on Google maps. It is also cool for surfing. Check out the videos below

I hope that those who have been there could submit pictures and videos and comment on this bouldering location. It is much appreciated.

The Hot Rock Global Challenge team is here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! If you dont know who they are, please visit their website at http://www.climbhotrock.com

In summary, our hard core hot rock friends are a bunch of climbing enthusiasts who in the famous Big Red Truck BIRT (that has circumvented the globe numerous times) they go from country to country and visit the climbing spots to do some climbing and touring the interesting sights while they are at it.

I heard of Hot Rock some 8 years ago back when it was run by a guy named Stewart who has since retired [...]

Patrick Andrey’s Series on Bolting Safety

Feb 23rd, 2009 | By putra | Category: Bolts and Bolting, News

In response to the article “The Dangers and Risks of Haphazard Bolting“, Malaysia’s resident bolting sensei, Patrick Andrey of BlocX and Stretchmarks Asia has decided to lend his time into witting a bit about bolting safety and also a history of bolting in Malaysia and its safety concerns. Pictured left in a not so flattering picture taken by Angeline Yan (Sorry Patrick… I couldnt find any other, you might have seen him prowling Camp5 if you are there often enough,

He shall be doing this in a series of posts separated into chapters for easier reading under the category “Bolts and [...]

The dangers and risks of haphazard bolting

Feb 5th, 2009 | By putra | Category: Featured Page, News

Fang pointed out an article to me that I found very disturbing and interesting and felt that I wanted to comment on it a little bit more, perhaps to see how people would comment on it in turn.

On the morning of January 2nd 2009, Nick Kaczorowski (left) met with a tragic accident in Grose Valley, Australia, going off route near the top of a climb known as “Bunny Bucket Buttress”. The route was a 270m with a grade 18 (or 6A+ using the French scheme that we use here in Malaysia). The expansion bolt that he was on failed [...]

The great 40

Feb 1st, 2009 | By putra | Category: News

Fang, Nat and Zee decided to do a marathon 40 routes in one session at Camp5 last thursday. The routine was at castle wall with their 8 metre routes. We started from the far left and climbed all routes for a given rope, before swapping climber, until we had all done all the routes, and then moving on to the next rope and repeating. It took us close to 3 hours to complete 40 routes. We could have continued to do 50 with ease but Camp5 was closing at 1030opm and that was the end of it.

Admittedly we did really [...]

Yishun Climbing Community trip to Volleyball Court and Madrasah Al Rahman

Feb 1st, 2009 | By putra | Category: Batu Caves, Featured Page

We had the pleasure of a visit from the Yishun Climbing Community of Singapore last weekend. They had come up on the bus to 1Utama, and then stayed one night at the Madrasah Al Rahman next to the Volleyball Court wall of Batu Caves. They took two dorm rooms with 4 bunk beds each…. one room for the boys and the other for the girls. I had previously gone to check the rooms and made sure of their good condition. They were clean and comfortable and the bathrooms were “resort” style (as Joanna put it) with a door that opens [...]

Full House at Nanyang

Jan 25th, 2009 | By putra | Category: Batu Caves, Featured Page

A weekend after the Charity Climb, Nanyang was full again of climbers doing new and old routes. The usual kings of nanyang, GreenTrekkerz were there in their numbers, setting up hammocks and lazing under the shade of the rocks. There was a good mix of people there, experts like Shang and Shiwen together with newbies and newcomers being thought the ropes and given the run down.

Nanyang is a good place for climbers to go and climb on the weekends because of the crowd gathered there, especially if you a loner and dont have a belay buddy. Plenty of climbers there [...]
