We would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to all the voluntary people in Malaysia who in their own effort and own initiative to acquire funds and devote their time to setting up new routes in Malaysia. A salute to you!
Recently there have been lots of work done at Nanyang wall (Batu Caves, KL) by the group called Green Trekkerz. They have for the last 7 weeks or more been there every weekend at Nanyang setting up new routes using money contributed by their members. As of now the routes have not yet been named, although this could have already been done by now. They will continue to bolt more routes toward the roadshow wall. Before this they organized a clean-up session at Nanyang Right over some weekends also.
Green Trekkerz was started some 3 to 4 years ago and encompasses activities around hiking, mountaineering, climbing waterfall hunting, paintballing and etc. They like to be known better as an informal group of friends who organize voluntary outings together. Quite a small group between 20 and 30 members, their activities are mostly on Sundays and have a range of outdoor activities that they organize.
Currently their activities revolve around bolting new routes. Together with them that day at Nanyang Wall was Abang Man who was there is a consultant for bolting and informal adviser. He has been one of the pioneers of the sport in Malaysia and together with others have bolted many routes in Batu Caves and Tioman.
Take the opportunity to visit their page at http://greentrekkerz.wordpress.com/ and join them for some activities. They also welcome donations for bolts and gear for more bolting operations.
Please visit their site and support the effort. Thanks Green Trekkerz for your voluntary contributions.
