I've finally visited today. The walls are crazy high but very enjoyable. Let's not forget that the prices for the renting of equipments are extremely reasonable. Especially when you're a student., like me. Honestly, it's difficult to find the place at 1st. Now that I know, it's actually simple. Just remember to go through the cemeteries!!!

Amazing! I visited the Putra Challenge Park today and it was awesome! I spoke with Shah and he said the hours are Sun.-Thurs. 10-8 and 10-10 on Fri and Sat. There appeared to be plenty of rock climbing equipment to rent if you don't have your own. I neglected to ask Shah if they have a beginner's class and/or if you need another person with you to be your "belay" partner. That's the peson that holds the other end of the rope while you climb the wall -- so hopefully it's someone you trust!! The best part about this GYM is it is FREE to climb now. Renting the equipment is less than $20 RM so this would be a great team building activity for corporate sponsors or a fun activity for a family. From experience, I know consistent Rock Climbing is an all over workout that builds beautiful arm and back muscles. When you first start out climging, because you have someone holding you on the other end of the rope, you can take breaks so it is an easily learned sport. Remember to climb with your legs as they are typically stronger than your arms... Happy Climbing... Suzanne G.

Hi Israr,

Sure we can help you get a foot hold into the sport. We can take you to camp5 in 1Utama Bandar Utama and give you some pointers and introduce you to the community.
What you will need is shoes, a harness and intrigue for adventure.

We can give you some pointers on climbing technique, safe belaying and introduce you to some friends... and after that you are good to go. You can then come whenever you wish and take part in the community and learn from there on.

Where do you live? And when do you want to do this? Tried emailing you but it bounced back. I think your email you provided is wrong.

Regards,
zee

Hei Hilary,

Yes it is a bit difficult getting information on routes, which is the prime motivator why I set up this site.

We have a good community of climbers here that you can of course meet and hook up for climbs. There are lots of places around the peninsular to climb. Not just one area and No... us climbers dont all live in the same place.... :) This is not Ton Sai. For the most part the climbing sport in Malaysia isnt as well developed as in Thailand for tourism. But we have a good size community of local climbers, and lots of routes around.

The most active of the communities live in Kuala Lumpur and congregate at Camp5 which is this large climbing gym in a suburb called Bandar Utama.

Some parts of Malaysia are affected by seasonal rainfall but in Kuala Lumpur, this is less obvious... it just rains whenever it feels like raining so there isnt really a good time or bad time to climb. Depends on your luck from week to week.

Let us know more once you firm up plans.

Hi. I will be traveling through KL on my way home from meeting a friend in Thailand. I was thinking of staying a few days to enjoy the local climbing, but it is very hard to find information about the area. Is it easy to meet climbing partners? Is there some where that most climbers stay? Or is the scene really quiet or spread out? Also, it would be at the end of March. Is this an okay time to get some climbing in weather wise? I would really appreciate any help, suggestions or climbing partners!!! :)

Thanks
Hilary
